It would be a hard government that should tax its people one-tenth part of their income.

Better Solutions, Better Results.

Crime.

Imagine a Philadelphia where your streets and neighborhoods are safe for you and your family. We need a common sense approach to fighting crime. I will put more police on the streets and more prosecutors in your District Attorney’ Office so we can take the thugs and criminals out of our neighborhoods and put them in prison. I will work for mandatory sentences for those that commit gun crimes to make sure the thugs and criminals who terrorize your neighborhoods will stay behind bars.

Taxes/Economic

Imagine a Philadelphia that is the envy of the nation in terms of jobs. It is common sense that the old broken high tax system drives jobs from the City. I see a future Philadelphia that is business friendly with low taxes and dynamic business. I see a City that is the model of economic growth. I see new businesses relocating to the City and I see you working there. I want you to make more money. I want more construction and development.

Education

Imagine a Philadelphia where you are proud of your children’s schools. I am fed up with our broken public school system. The 50% drop out rate of the public high schools is simply unacceptable. Common sense says that the drop out rate directly contributes to the crime emergency our City is in. I will not continue to pour money into the same broken system. I will hold failing schools accountable. I will not allow someone’s income to dictate where parents must send their children to school. I know that parents know better than a bureaucrat what is best for their child’s education.

Casinos

Simply put, not on my watch. Casinos represent a failure of state and local government. At the state level, in order to lower property and wage taxes, our elected officials chose to tax the poor and elderly through slot machines rather than to cut pork, spending, and waste from the budget. At the local level, for years because of pay-to-play politics, lack of vision, or otherwise, our elected officials let our waterfront sit underdeveloped and without a cogent plan for the future. This lack of development and lack of planning gave casinos the ground in our neighborhoods on which to build.

Gay Rights

This is America. The government needs to stay out of your life. You should be able to spend your life with whomever you want – no questions asked. Your rights should not be any different because you are in a same sex relationship. Bottom line government should not tolerate discrimination in any form.

Environment

Imagine a Pennsylvania that is the greenest state in the Union. I want Philadelphia to once again lead our country in revolution by  leading our nation to energy independence. I will champion available environmental solutions that work and can meet our energy demands – such zero greenhouse emission nuclear power.
